default date blank for birthday

Postby WebDragon » 4:14pm, Tue 26 Feb, 2008

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to have a default date of nothing if they want to sign up for the newsletter, but don't want birthday or anniversary mailings..

I can't really see any way to tell the package to ignore the date other than setting up two additional checkboxes (one for b-day, one for anniv. with like "yes send me xxx mailings too")

any thoughts on this?

date formatting of input

Postby WebDragon » 7:52pm, Tue 26 Feb, 2008

I had a lot of fun writing a parser in Perl using DateTime::Format::Builder for something similar a few years ago (and I mean that in the good sense of fun, in that it did what it was suposed to, and it let me arrange the form the way I wanted it)

It's rather shocking to run headlong into a situation that's got a highly configurable system with this one mostly inflexible attribute.

edit: this having been said, I checked the post to which you refer and I'm unclear whether the use of a '-- ' leader as a default value would affect this date field.

You may be right about this having to be a feature request.

anyone else have any input?
