Is phpList The Right Tool for Us?

Postby BoosterWeb » 8:14pm, Mon 11 Feb, 2013

Trying to decide if phpList is the right tool for our organization. We are a sports booster organization with roughly 400 emails (parents, coaches, alumni, administration, etc.) We don't need anything fancy, just something to send emails out to everyone. We currently have a simple list that does everything we need, but we're moving to a new host that will only allow 100 members on a list. I thought phpList might work but then realized that in order to send an email you have to log into the web application and send it. That's not how we work - in our organization, if you're on the list, you can send an email from home. And we need it to continue to work that way. Does phpList support this? How would I set it up? I'm new to these mailing list programs so I'm lost here!

Check out this thread which refers to a user written plug-in for phpList that allows one to email 2 phpList to send messages out. However, please be aware that this plug-in is no longer supported by the original developer.

Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x
