PHPList Throughput

Postby arjundiwan » 9:49am, Wed 28 Apr, 2010

Hi,

We are looking forward to use PHPList for managing our email campaigns. For which we are most likely to use a third party hosted dedicated server.

Even though I have in detailed studied PHPlist and gone through the forums here but still I have some questions in mind that I'm unable to get answers of. Below are the questions or doubts:
1) As PhpList promises for 3k-5k mails per hour. What would be the ideal server configuration that can support such throughput. I have tried to explore it via many host and every one has their own configuration offer.

2) As we are a small business we are ok with the throughput promised by PhpList but we might very soon be looking forward to 100k-300k mails per hour. This thought makes we wonder if there is a way I can increase the throughput of PhpList, if so how is that possible and what is max throughput of PhpList?

I would really appreciate if someone can put light on them, I'm trying to figure this out since a long time now. Hope they don't sound stupid!

Both your questions will depend on the limitations imposed by your chosen host.

phpList will pump out the newsletters (emails) as fast as it can. The limitations imposed by the host will restrict just how many emails can be sent per hour and even how much of a delay inbetween groups of emails.

Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Thanks Rider for the reply. But its mentioned in the PhpList documentation that "At full speed phplist (up to version 2.10.5) will send about 3000 personalized messages per hour, or about 5000 non-personalized messages per hour.". That means even if the host is willing to relay at a higher speed, PhpList would still restrict itself to 3000-5000 mails per hour. Mailqueue batch processing and Mailqueue throttle are just ways we can configure PhpList to follow host instructions in case they restrict to anythning less than PhpList mail sending rate. I'm Confused.

From a VPS I'm sending a steady 17,000 per hour, 15,000 when personalized.
AND EXIM IS KEEPING UP WITH IT!
