[newbie]Image not found on server

Postby Musclelondon » 9:54am, Fri 18 Jul, 2014

I'm creating a template and I've put a graphic in the template but when I tick to check that the image exists on the server I get a message back that it can't be found.

I've checked the permissions on the folder which are set to 777 and the permissions on the file are set to 644. The file was correctly uploaded and to my knowledge, I've followed the setup instructions.

I'm at a lost as to what the problem is or what other information to give so someone can help me.

Hi, Which version of phpList are you using?

In which folder does your config.php file specify as the folder yo9u are using? And which folder are you using?

Folder (or directory) permissions should NEVER be set higher than 755, most servers these days block access to and folder or file set to 777.

Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Hello,

I'm using version 3.0.6

Clearly I've missed something about setup as I didn't realise I needed to put anything in the config.php file about the upload folder. I'll go back to the instructions.

I've just changed the permissions to the folder to 755 and then 744 and that made no difference.

Let me just pull up my config files, and I'll give you some idea where to look.

Around about lines 596-605 you can specify the UPLOADIMAGES_DIR

You'll need to be using config-extended.php, renamed to config.php to replace the quickstart original config.php file though.

Which editor are you using please? In 3.0.x you get fckeditor included (check the plugins page).

A nicer editor with more options is CKEditor, available from the plugins resources area. Just remember that only one editor can be enabled at a time.

With the CKEditor you can also specify the image directory location on the Admin>Config>Settings page under CKEditor heading.

I seem to be going backwards. I added CKEditor (and you're right it's better than Tiny MCE or FCK), but I can't even see the pictures in the editor window now. I haven't got as far as sending a test email.

The one thing I haven't done is set the image location in config.php (having changed the extended file to the working file). Are there other settings I need to change within the extended file? I worked out the database settings and put back in the reference to the number of emails to send an hour to keep my hosting company happy.

Thank you for your help so far. I feel like I'm starting to learn something about the program (although I know I'm still a newbie).

If you feel like using CKEditor other the other editors, set the image directory in the admin pages Config>Settings under the CKEditor section of the page.

This defaults to image directory, not the lists/images directory,

When you say you can't see the images, have you loaded your images using fckEditor before? If so, they are in a different location to where CKEditor expects to find them.

It's far simpler to re-upload your images from within the CKEditor window of send a campaign.

The settings for your CKEditor should be similar to to these.

I did upload new images as I did notice that CKEditor had created a sub folder called files and was working from that folder (I even worked out that the config.php file didn't want the files sub-folder mentioned or it looked for files/files).

When I upload new images they appear in the CKEditor upload window and I can choose them for my email template however, once chosen, this happens:-

And if I try to save the template, I'm told it can't find the file.
