SMS LIST - Add 'Text Input' & 'Mobile Provider Drop Down

Postby hiimtom » 3:20pm, Fri 15 Feb, 2008

This can be done, but I'm not 100% sure of how to submit the full sms email address to PHPList. You need two form elements in the format '10 digit number text box' and a 'drop down menu w/ list of gateway @email.net addresses' that when they are submitted, subscribe '10digitnumber@selectedemailgateway.net' to list 'x'.

If someone can let me know how to submit this, I'll populate the sms gateway dropdown with all the correct providers and their gateways addresses........Just did it. I've posted the code below. If someone could tell me the way to submit the forum so it signs someone up, it's done.

Thanks,

Tom

Code: Select all
<label>Mobile Number:</label>
<input>

<select>

      <option> Alltel</option>
      <option> Ameritech</option>

      <option> ATT Wireless</option>
      <option> Bellsouth</option>
      <option> Boost</option>
      <option> CellularOne</option>
      <option> Cingular</option>

      <option> Edge Wireless</option>

      <option> Metro PCS</option>
      <option> Nextel</option>

      <option> O2</option>
      <option> Orange</option>
      <option> Qwest</option>
      <option> Rogers Wireless</option>
      <option> Sprint PCS</option>
      <option> ***SPAM***</option>
      <option> Teleflip</option></optgroup>
      <option> Telus Mobility</option>

      <option> US Cellular</option>
      <option> Verizon</option>
      <option> ***SPAM*** Mobile</option>
</select>

<input>

Let me know if this has been done before and I just can't find it. Otherwise I'll be working on this. It would nice if I could get a little help, and once I have this done, I'll post it for all to use.

WTH? The code tags strip out all of the option values?

They are:

just after 'option' add a space and then 'value (equal sign)' plus the following list, respectively.
Code: Select all

"@message.alltel.com"> Alltel</option>
"@paging.acswireless.com"> Ameritech</option>
"@mmode.com"> ATT Wireless</option>
"@bellsouth.cl"> Bellsouth</option>
"@myboostmobile.com"> Boost</option>
"@mobile.celloneusa.com"> CellularOne</option>
"@mobile.mycingular.com"> Cingular</option>
"@sms.edgewireless.com"> Edge Wireless</option>
"@mymetropcs.com"> Metro PCS</option>
"@messaging.nextel.com"> Nextel</option>
"@mobile.celloneusa.com"> O2</option>
"@mobile.celloneusa.com"> Orange</option>
"@qwestmp.com"> Qwest</option>
"@pcs.rogers.com"> Rogers Wireless</option>
"@messaging.sprintpcs.com"> Sprint PCS</option>
"@tmomail.net"> ***SPAM***</option>
"@teleflip.com"> Teleflip</option></optgroup>
"@msg.telus.com"> Telus Mobility</option>
"@email.uscc.net"> US Cellular</option>
"@vtext.com"> Verizon</option>
"@vmobl.com"> ***SPAM*** Mobile</option>

I've got a real ghetto hack if anyone wants it. It's circa 1994.

If you're going to have less than the # of sign ups you're willing to data enter per day, you may want to help me automate this a little better. However, this does for the time being.

1) You just set up an email form that sends you their phone number and their response for which provider they use.

2) Log into your admin account.

3) Create the user & Add them to a list called SMS.

4) Send them a confirmation message, yadda, yadda, ...

4) Be sure to send plain text emails only to SMS. Remember that sms = short message system. 300 characters tops. Add a tiny url to the bottom.

5) I also leave a message on the confirmation page to let them know that they will receive their activation email within 48hrs.

P.S. Anyone know of any good data entry outsourcing companies? :lol:

BUMP

Anyone know what to do here.

text box + drop down = adds 10 digit phone number + sms gateway email address to equal something like 1234123412@tmomail.net to a phplist?

I know some else on here wants to know the same thing, so lets work together guys. What do ya say?

P.S. Fix the url filter to 2 posts. I'm not a spammer, just a persistent poster. Who's gonna spam on the third post that's not going to spam on the first, really?
