I'm amazed, no sooner do I post a message then it gets indexed by google.
Do you have SEO mods installed with this phpbb? Is there something else you've done to support this. It's outstanding!

the answer is "no". We've just installed a vanilla phpBB, with the attachments mod, and some security mods, but that's it. Maybe it was just a coincidence that we were just scheduled to be spidered after your post.

Enter the Google Matrix

Google is getting more complicated than Matrix which nobody understood, but everyone enjoyed watching 8)

Google specifically tags different websites according to their business logic. As per Google rule, it keeps tabs on number of times it found fresh content on any particular website. If any website update content within a span of 2-3 days, then google crawler will frequently visit that website. Google search crawler is thirsty for good content and is always in search of those websites which produce quality content on regular basis.

This is the reason why threads posted on this forum gets crawled frequently

Google puts your website in different category if it gets updated on daily basis. Google will also place your website in a different directory, if it gets updated on monthly basis, and so on.

Google has specifically observed that this forum gets updated regularly, and this is the reason why google loves coming back again and again 8)

Forums always rank high recently, I have noticed. Most probably, the philosophy behind it could be that when there are many people posting, it makes the content been updated very frequent.

By default the phpbb is very search engine friendly. I have seen many other forums to get indexed in google with a few posts. and I am not surprised to see this forum indexed in google with all these posts.

Like michiel said, maybe it is a coincidence. But I believe that it is because PHPList is a successful & contributing open-source project, it has been accepted by million of people around the globe.

Definitely, Google notices about this.

As a wise search engine provider, there's no reason why they shouldn't put their spider away from phplist forum. Furthermore, in certain perspective Google see themselves an activist in open source findings too. They stand their ground and give their support, in their very own way. :P

I think ever since the Google caffeine upgrading in April the indexing has been even faster, in general. Usually busy, high PR sites literally pull the Googlebot toward themselves. So not just (php) forums, but also frequently updated blogs. Additionally, an auto-generating/updating sitemap helps too.

For me, its real difficult to understand this google indexing. Lots of posting on forums, blogs, directories and social bookmarks to mention a few. God know to what extent this all help if content of the site is not upto the standard and niche specific.

what is 'caffeine upgrade'? It looks like I'm well out of date with Google and it's tactics... I've only been using pinging and bookmarking any new content but it doesn't seem to get the spiders to index it any quicker. I'm just a beginner though, maybe I just need more patience :?
