Hi,

I have setup phplist on my server and was looking to configure the SPF record so I went over to the demo site to see what was going on there.

http://demo.phplist.com/lists/admin/?page=configure
demo.phplist.com
This IP is = 67.15.92.70

And demo.phplist.com is a CNAME of ev1lb.tincan.co.uk
And the:
PTR = 67.15.92.70 is ev1s-67-15-92-70.theplanet.com

On my mail server config. i.e. /etc/postfix/main.cf
smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Debian/GNU)

So my 2 questions are:
Should the mailserver $myhostname on the demo server in real life be ev1s-67-15-92-70.theplanet.com?
If this is the case should the Domain Name of your server (for email) not also be ev1s-67-15-92-70.theplanet.com?

I am asking because on my server I changed my banner to be inline with the PRT of my IP to pass all the tests:
using mxtoolbox: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx
I did a SEARCH: smtp:mail.mydomain.com
220 xyz.myisp.gr ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
OK - 193.92.X.X resolves to xyz.myisp.gr
OK - Reverse DNS matches SMTP Banner
0 seconds - Good on Connection time
Not an open relay.

Kind Regards
Stephen
