Is the envelope supposed to be the owner or the source?

Postby mccolm » 5:36am, Thu 03 Jul, 2014

I am sending a lot of emails to an institution whose server regards the "envelope" as the source of the email. If the envelope and the return address are different, that server gets upset.

Both the server's webmail Outlook and my personal Outlook report that the envelope is the email address entered in config as the owner of the account.

Is PhPList supposed to list the owner as the email on the envelope?

the purpose of the envelope-from is to direct where the non-deliverable emails go. this is typically an email address that is separate from the 'From' address, which is usually where the replies are sent.

if you don't want to use the envelope-from, comment out that line in the config.php file. after doing that, the From and the Reply-to address will be the address that you setup in the create message page. All bounces will go to that address, too.
