Hi,

If I wanted to create a campaign with a big list of subscribers, but wanted to limit only sending the same email to 450 per hour, how do I do this and to make sure the program will only send once to each person on that list?

Thanks,
:D

In config/config.php file, set the sending rate as follows:
Code: Select all
 define the amount of emails you want to send per period. If 0, batch processing
# is disabled and messages are sent out as fast as possible
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_SIZE",450);

# define the length of one batch processing period, in seconds (3600 is an hour)
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_PERIOD",3600);

(In version 2 this is around lines 335)

phpList will only send one email per campaign to each subscriber, that's how it works. :)

Thank you Dragonrider for helping me! That is excellent information and I found the link that is describing this process. Now that I know what to call it. http://docs.phplist.com/PhpListConfigSendRate.html Though, it says the information is based on version up to 2.10.5. So, I am not sure if the info still applies to the newest release?

It sounds so easy! I have heard nothing but awesome feedback about PHPlist in other forums. So, this is my first whirl with it.

:lol:
So,I just want to confirm with you if I am understanding the process correctly,

If I set the batch size to 450, and my list is say 1350 different email subscribers starting from addresses alphabetized A-Z, PHPlist will automatically stop sending at 450 (A-H), 900 (I-P), 1350 (Q-Z)?

I hope it is as easy as it sounds! :D

Well, you didn't specify which version you are running and this is the version 2 sub-forum so I assumed you are running version 2.

In version 3, the lines are around 340-350 and you'd need to be using config-extended.php renaming the file to config.php to replace the smaller starter original config.php file.

Honestly, not sure if phpList sending a sorted order of emails or not, and you'll need to keep a browser window open on the processing until it's completed. but it will send up to 450 messages per hour so long as your host allows that number.
