Confirm URL not working

Postby czclock9 » 1:46am, Tue 19 Aug, 2014

phpList Version 3.0.6
Firefox 31.0

When I copy and paste into my browser the URL where subscribers can confirm their subscription, I get the following message:

"Not Found
The requested document was not found on this server
Please contact the Administrator"

This is the URL I copied from SETTINGS:
http://www.designer4dance.com/dir/?p=confirm

I can successfully go to some of the other URL's shown under SETTINGS but not all of them.

Thank you in advance for your help.

My sites:- http://wharfedalefestival.co.uk, http://ilkleygardeners.org.uk, http://emergencyaid.net, http://dragonrider.co.uk
Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Thank you for responding.
I confirmed with my web host support group that my phpList is installed at:
http://www.designer4dance.com/dir
Also, I went over to my father's home and found that, from his computer, I can successfully view the confirm page:
http://www.designer4dance.com/dir/?p=confirm
Again, I only get an error message when I try to view the confirm page from my computer. Maybe this is o.k. Still, I would like to be able to see the actual confirm page without having to go to another computer.
Any thoughts? Thank you again.

You do not access the confirm URL directly. phplist adds a uid parameter when a person actually confirms, so the 404 error happens because the uid is missing.

If you want to see the confirm page then you will need to go through the complete subscribe process.

I think I understand except for one clarification. When you said "when a person actually confirms" did you mean to say "when a person actually subscribes"? Aren't you saying the unique id needs to be assigned prior to receiving/viewing the confirm page?

Thank you.

If you go through the subscribe process then you will see how it works.

I have discovered what I did that caused the problem. It has to do with the bracketed urls that are defaulted by the software. Like these:

[CONFIRMATIONURL]

When I was making my first subscribe page, I didn't understand what the brackets were for. I thought that I was supposed to copy and paste the actual url address into where the brackets are. That created the problem. When I replaced my mistake with [CONFIRMATIONURL] it worked.
Beginners, you can change the url's this way:
Config>Settings>Scroll down to "Subscription Settings">"URL where subscribers have to confirm their subscription".
You must keep the bracketed formatting on the pages that you customize.
