Convert phpList sql file to something I can open - mdb, xls?

I used phpList to manage a contact database for my church. I closed the website site I housed it on, and all I have left is a database file with a ".sql" extension (e.g., database.sql). But I don't have anything to open this file to retrieve the data. Does someone know of a program I can use to open the file, or a program that will let me convert it to an ".xls" or something? Thanks.

You should be able to open this in Notpad or similar, I usually do when examining my database .sql files

Yes, I can open it there. It's just that the data I want is surrounded by sql code. Not the easiest thing to extracate;-)

I was hoping to do something like I used to with phpMyAdmin where you tell the program to import sql and it makes all the tables and populates them for you. It would be much easier to export the data from a table than from this sql code mixture.
