How To Add Certain Placeholder Fields in Email Messages

Hello,
I am using phplist 2.10.4.
I would like to include some attribute fields in email messages. Currently, I have an attributed called "Name" for people to add their name when subscribing.
In the editing of the templates for outgoing email messages and for the web screen messages, I added the placeholder of [Name] so that the name will display.
This displays fine on the web page messages, but doesn't work in the eamil messages. I have also tried using [FIRST NAME] and also the attribute number (which is 1) as [1]. Neither 'first name' or '1' work in either the web pages display or the email messages. The only thing I can get to work is the attribute field called Name used as [Name] for the web pages confirmation screens.
Also, I noticed a placeholder called [USERDATA] in one of the default email messages, and so I tried experimenting with this field also in the first confirmation email, in the hopes that the userdata may display the name of the subscriber. But that placeholder also doesn't work on email messages either.
I have edited both the templates on the "Subscribe Pages" sections, as well as the "configuration" page. All without success.
So, my goal is: I would like to include the subscriber's name to display in my emails and newsletters.
My question is: How can I get the email messages to also display my "name" attribute in confirmation emails AND the actual newsletters?
Eg, someone called Joe subscribes, and on the screen webpage it reads as "Welcome to our Mailing List, Joe".
Then when they receive their confirmation emails (and the newsletters) they are also addressed by their name.
Thank you.
