I was wondering if someone can help prevent/remove the
unsubscribed confirmation email from being sent to the user once they click the unsubscribe link?? I think its rather redundant

To start you off you could take a look at this thread http://forums.phplist.com/viewtopic.php?t=6121 and see if you can develop a mod or plugin that does what you want.
