import failing because it cant write to the temp directory

Postby jemmrich2 » 2:45am, Sat 19 May, 2007

Hi Guys,

I have recently upgraded my server via apt-get dist-upgrade and it seems it has broken my ability to import csv files.

I get the error
Code: Select all
Warning: The temporary directory for uploading is not writable, so import will fail ()
Fatal Error: Cannot read file. It is not readable ! (/emails.csv1179540742)

This is what my directory permissions are:
Code: Select all
drwxrwxrwt   5 root root  77824 May 18 22:41 tmp

Any ideas why I cant import? I have tried importing some database stuff using phpmyadmin to test file upload via forms/php and it worked, so i assume this error is limited to my phplist install.

Importing did work a few weeks ago and everything was working fine.

Looking forward to any ideas you can throw at me!

Hi everyone.

I fixed my problem, I set the temp directory in php to
Code: Select all
upload_tmp_dir = "/tmp/"

and then restarted apache

I guess the trailing slash seemed to be the key.
