SMTP Error: Data not accepted. SMTP server error: Accepted

Postby kerberos » 3:35pm, Fri 29 Aug, 2014

Our newsletter has been churning along without trouble for quite some time, then suddenly this morning, almost every send is met with "Error sending email to … SMTP Error: Data not accepted.SMTP server error: Accepted" in the PHPmail log. With many many retries, most of them eventually go through, but with 1000 subscribers that would take much more than a day.

So what happened? How do I fix it?

In the config file, the PHPMAILERHOST is defined as localhost. Again, although this has been working fine, perhaps that should be commented out?

Commenting out the config line

#define("PHPMAILERHOST",'localhost');

appears to have worked.

I'd still love to know what might have changed.

Leaving the default config line as

define("PHPMAILERHOST",' ');

also works.

(This was done after upgrading to 3.0.7, which, however, now doesn't allow the queue to be processed by php-cgi command in a cron job. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=41551#p102855)
