User feedback (answer)

Postby gregfr » 10:40am, Thu 13 Mar, 2014

Hello Community

I need to send the users an invitation (for an event) which they should reply to (confirm or decline attending). Is it possible with phpList?

TIA

Create your invite as a campaign message and try to emphaise that a reply is required, either attending or not attending, by having a link to a page on your website where they can fill in their name/email and confirm yes or no regarding attendance.

phpList won't send an invite out that they can simply reply to as basically that'll be assumed to be a bounced email.

I created a similar idea for one of my sites where I adjusted the design of a printed membership renewal form but it was to be printed out and returned in person with payment. Seemed to be quite successful from the response we've got so far.
My sites:- http://wharfedalefestival.co.uk, http://ilkleygardeners.org.uk, http://emergencyaid.net, http://dragonrider.co.uk
Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Thanks for your answer.

I was indeed planning a reply via a web form; however, my question is about whether phpList can inject a custom parameter in the email sent. By "custom" I mean a parameter related to the email recipient, in a way that I can identify the recipient from the website through the link inside the email body.

I have no problem fetching informations from phpList's database if needed. For example, if the link contains the user's ID, that would be sufficient because my website can browse the database to find who the user is.

I think I found something here:
http://docs.phplist.com/Placeholders.html

I didn't know the name of "variables" was "placeholder" since I'm using the french version :)
