how do i import emails - what field delimeter is a square

I just put permission 777 on all temp directories I have on my ftp...
it is still saying Warning: The temporary directory for uploading () is not writable, so import will fail
any other check I can do for finding out what it is the problem?

I've the same problem and i don't resolve it :(

My csv file example:

in phplist - manage users - import users - import emails with the same values for attributes and at the the end i've this message:

Fatal Error: Some characters that are not valid have been found. These might be delimiters. Please check the file and select the right delimiter. ,

Excel thinks it understands the extent of your spreadsheet by tracking where you have worked. Press CTRL END to see where it thinks the last cell is. Then delete all rows and columns outside where you want. Then do the export.

Hi guys, new user here in South Africa

I have a huge database in Excel, over the past 3 months, people have unsuscribed from my newsletters, I have added new names to my Excel database via Outlook etc, now I want to ensure my Excel database is clean, how do I find the list of Unsubscribes within PHP so that I can export them to Excel and then delete them within Excel and then export them back to PHP.

I understand that PHP will not allow unsubscribes to be imported, but I need to ensure Excel is up to date with my rejects and unsubscribes.

I have been following and converted my email list to excel, saved as tab txt file, and when it imports, I get the following error on all emails...

Warning: Record has more values than header indicated (1!=8), this may cause trouble: customers@email.com (customers email address)

Any suggestions?

People with access problems. You shoul also check your security setting of the root folder on the website. And check the permissions are NOT 777

Make sure your text files are small no more than 500 mails in one file.(pain in the kneck) depending on your server capability..
or you might have this error that can freeze you list system
