Sent test mail to: ____ failed

Postby Guest » 5:46am, Fri 19 Dec, 2008

I was struggling with the "Sent test mail to: ... failed" message and, upon resolving, was surprised it didn't make it to the wiki.

A new install operates in Test Mode, which is controlled by a bit in config.php:189-191:
Code: Select all
# if test is true (not 0) it will not actually send ANY messages,
# but display what it would have sent
define ("TEST",1);

change the 1 to a 0, and you're on your way!

It did actually make it to the wiki, to this FAQ to be more specific: I just installed PHPlist, but sending my first messages fails. Why can't I send any message? :wink:

Additional pointers and head ups, such as your post are welcome of course. Thx!

You got me there-- and I would have found it if the error msg were there to be text-sought. Or, if the message were a little less error and more "Your config.php and smtp settings are spotless, but being in test mode, I didn't send anything. Set that in config.php" or something along those lines.

At any rate, the phrase is here now, and maybe this will guide others too anxious to play with this AWESOME software before R'ing TFM :)

Thanks for your help!
