You apparently installed phplist in yourdomain/mail/
However your form action refers to yourdomain/lists/ which explains the 404 error. So you'd need to change the form action url and refer to the correct directory, i.e. use "mail" instead of "lists"

IMPORTANT: Before you do that, you'd need to create at least one list, and activate it. This is explained in the docs. I strongly suggest you start with reading the Setup documentation. Remember, EACH step described in that documentation page is important. So, follow up on all the links in that page, otherwise you'll get nowhere: http://docs.phplist.com/SettingUpForUse

Basically my advice is to first get your system working as a standard system. If everything has been tested and works OK, then go one step further and customize your subscribe form.

I have a custom embedded subscribe page and figured out how to redirect my pages to new .html page. I can't figure out what code to embed into the confirmation, preferences, and unsubscribe pages though.

The code seems to work from the first page. The only problem is with IE. For some reason when submitting the form in IE it goes to a secondary page that requires you to click a submit button again. In firefox it automatically submits from the first page.

Anyone have any ideas why this could be?

Thanks,

Thomas

I must have skipped over this part. I added that hidden element and it works like a charm. Weird, though, that firefox wasnt picky about it and IE is.

* If you want to use an image instead of the standard submit button, you must add the following hidden field tag to your form:
Code: Select all
<input type="hidden" name="subscribe" value="yes">

Many thanks.

Is Joomla Causing A problem - Subscribe Page keeps coming up

Postby markcrobinson » 11:27pm, Sun 13 Jul, 2008

I have carefully gone through the posts and the documentation page. No matter what I do, the "Subscribe Page" keeps coming up as if the variables are not being sent.

No matter what I do, the signup page is still coming up. Could it be because I'm trying to use it inside a Joomla website?

I'm sorry - I'm not following - but I am really stuck on this problem - is your post suggesting a solution?

I need an 'enter your email address' on the front page of a Joomla site - but can't seem to get any of the solutions here to work.

If you're willing to help, please tell me what I can do to make that possible.

Thanks!

I guess J_S was suggesting that I'd answer your question  Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Joomla, so my help could well be ineffective.

You could post your form code here (if you do, make sure you click on "Disable HTML in this post" when editing your message) so we could have a look, and perhaps help you in finding a solution.

yes, my comment was directed only to praise H2B2. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Joomla either. but you can post your code to see if perhaps there's a tweak that can be made.
