Might be the max_questions issue, in which case the server configuration (php.ini) limits the allowed number of database queries per hour.

You could take a look at these posts:

OK, thanks. I'll check now this with my ISP.

In the meanwhile, before your post-reply i did the process queue again and have this diferente error:

--------------------------------------------------
Started
A process for this page is already running and it was still alive 592 seconds ago
Sleeping for 20 seconds, aborting will quit
<div>Database error 0 while doing query MySQL server has gone away</div>
Script stage: 1
Finished, Nothing to do
Finished, All done
--------------------------------------------------

Could you identify this error type?

Hello,

I'd contacted my ISP for this problem, and my ISP's answer was:
"The script is a bit old and does not support the version 5.0 from MySQL. the server have MySQL version 5."
 It's true? How can i fix this problem?

Though it is true that phplist has not been fully tested with a MySQL 5 setup, a number of users are effectively using phplist with MySQL 5.

It seems to me your ISP is taking the easy way out, and apparently does not seem to be inclined to increase the max_questions setting.

So you might try the 'trick' suggested by unitedauctionllp to increase the max_questions, which basically consists of adding a few database users in phplist's config.php file. See: http://forums.phplist.com/viewtopic.php?p=23248#23248

Hi,

I had created 4 news database users with the same password of the first user. Updated my config.php with the array pf users.

Did the "process queue" and get the same error message:

Process Killed by other process
(...)
1 messages sent in 38.01 seconds (94 msgs/hr)
(...)
Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away (repeated 14 times)

I'm stressing  This newsletter is so urgent! Any quick solution to help me!?

Edited:
Also got new info from my ISP:
"In your server you have a limit of 500 messages per hour and your MySQL server don't have any querie limits"

Hi all,

I've the sample problem and I think this is a common one. I did tried to migrate my database to MySQL for but unsuccessful.

So, I'd forwarded the problem to our support department. And this is what one of the engineers replied.

----
We investigated the issue and it looks like some problem with the PHPList application itself. We raised the memory limits for the account just to see if this will resolve the issue, unfortunately on the several we got the following output:
==================
A process for this page is already running and it was still alive 363 seconds ago
Sleeping for 20 seconds, aborting will quit

Database error 2008 while doing query MySQL client ran out of memory

==================

I have more than 7000 bounces for processing. Could it be because of that?

I really hope that someone will help me on this issue. It's urgent. Thanks so much.

Was there ever a resolution to this problem, I am having the same issue.

Started
Processing has started, 1 message(s) to process.
It is safe to click your "stop" button now, report will be sent by email to ----
Processing message 25
Looking for users
Found them: 2 to process
Process Killed by other process
Script stage: 5
1 emails failed (will retry later)
Finished this run
Waiting for 3600 seconds before reloading

and then:

Database error 2013 while doing query Lost connection to MySQL server during query
Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away
Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away
Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away

Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away

Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away
Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away
Database error 2006 while doing query MySQL server has gone away

This is really starting to stress me out too and I don't know how to resolve this. I'm setting this up for a client and there's only about 300 in the mailing list, but we tried mailing out twice and it only made it through about 105. I'm running in test mode now, but I can't keep sending out emails to test this out.

I don't know if it helps, but doing a search in Google comes up with a number of applications that are suffering the same error, not just phpList.

The MySQL forums have a thread on the issue, there's one on the vBulletin forum too, OSCommerce as well.

I've looked at the MySQL forum thread, but have to admit been totally flummoxed!

Just found a post from the second page of Google results which I can understand. "Restarted MySQL and the problem went away". Might that help?
My sites:- http://wharfedalefestival.co.uk, http://ilkleygardeners.org.uk, http://emergencyaid.net, http://dragonrider.co.uk
Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

This is still giving me issues.

The client I'm doing this for is using GoDaddy, and I don't see any way to restart MySQL.

This is really a problem because I can only really 'test' this out when I'm sending out a newsletter to everyone. When I run phpList in 'test mode' everything works fine.

I moved a mailing list over from Mailman to phpList. I am also receive the same error ... and our site is also on godaddy dot com and so I wonder if it is something at their end too? Co-hosting. No control over mySQL.

As the process cant end I am a bit concerned that the mail that we sent to users has not been received. Small list of 1,000 users. I tried leaving settings as default. I tried changing them to batch and changing time periods to avoid obvious "spamming" (e.g. 10 a minute). No difference. I also note that godaddy does not seem to allow for IMAP in their php installation and so I also notice is that there are no bounces (and no email notification has been received). This concerns me because I would expect their to be some bounces and makes me wonder if anything has actually gone out.

It seems to have gotten through 900 plus but has been stuck on the final 70 odd odd for the last 12 hours or more. Are there more complete logs anywhere?

Thanks.
