If you have trouble with the Pop3 (for the Bounces), and you have already tried all the possibilities in this topic (or the other ones of Gmail and PHP List)...

TRY THIS...

Ask your host-manager or support technicians to check that your Port 995 is open for outgoing connections. My support area said it was ok, but they "restarted the firewall-just to be sure" , and JAY!! Like a CHARM!

YES, for some it may be a big deal or complicated thing, because it may not be of just a few minutes, but if that solved my problem, maybe it will with your's too. The simplest code now works fine.

## P S :
How I got there? Easy, making a very specific searching in google, and found in PHPClasses ORG a thread about Manuel Lemo's Pop3-email-client-Class and read this as an answer of support technician to someone with problems...
---
Port 995 was open for incoming connections but not for outgoing ones which has been opened now and your script is working fine now.
---

CHEERS!

GOOD STUFF QUIDWARE :!:

I was suffering from this too.

The cron message I was getting included the following;
Just thought I'd include this as for me it showed as a connection timing out issue.

Code: Select all
PHPlist version 2.10.5 (c) 2000-2008 Tincan Ltd, http://www.phplist.com
Cannot create POP3 connection to pop.gmail.com: Can't connect to gmail-pop.l.google.com,995: Connection timed out
Identifying consecutive bounces
Nothing to do
Identifying consecutive bounces
0 users processed

Tech support confirmed that the port wasnt open but now it is and works a dream.

Gosh, am on a roll today sorting processqueue and processbounces cron jobs to work with google.

Can you please guide me to get this working: gmail and phplist.

Also you have mentioned, you got it working that fixed some missing semicolon. Can you say where it was?

I found that this solution worked perfectly for me: http://forums.phplist.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17376&start=30

I'm using GoDaddy and Google Apps.

The only thing the solution left out was to define the port after defining the host in lists/admin/phpmailer/class.smtp.php -- and it should be set to 465 or 587 for outgoing, not 995 (just to clarify):

Code: Select all
        $this->smtp_conn = fsockopen($host='ssl://smtp.gmail.com',    # the host of the server
                                     $port='465',    # the port to use
