3rd party code for phpList

[plugin] Email2phpBB3 -> to become fully integrated

Postby SaWey » 3:10am, Tue 29 Jan, 2008

I updated my emailtophpbb plugin to be able to post messages on the new v3.
It is even easier then before, no problems with flooding anymore...

To install this script, just put these files in there corresponding directories:
  • emailtophpBB --> admin/plugins
  • emailtophpBB.php --> admin/plugins

Once the files are in there,
Make sure you have your "plugin directory" in your config file pointing to the right directory.
The file "processed.php" and directory "config" have to be chmodded 777.

Then just go to you phpList admin page and click on the Email2phpBB3 link.
You will be able to configure this script via those pages.

If you want to post your emails on a forum, click on the "process" button in the main page.

If you installed this plugin while already running phpList for a while
make sure to enter all your message id's of the messages you don't want
to be posted in the 'processed.php' file, each id on another line.
Also make sure you don't leave empty lines in that file!!

Since phpBB3 dropped HTML support for their posts,
this plugin will try to create a plain text version of it, it is not yet perfect,
but suggestions are always welcome! :)

Are there any people who would want a complete phpBB3 integration with phpList?

I was thinking of extending this plugin to be a phpList - phpBB3 integration, so you can send out your mails from the phpBB admin panel.

What would be the possibilities:
  • Fully functional phplist from within phpBB
  • Subscriptions handled from UCP in phpBB or via subscribe page in phpBB style
  • All admin functions move to phpBB ACP
  • Ability to use a thread or forum as an archive
  • Send topics as mail content
  • ...

Suggestions are welcome!

That would be amazing! I think it would be very hard to implement however.

I think there is a simpler option:
Make a plugin which adds a checkbox to the form used when people register + in peoples profiles which subscribes / unsubscribes them from a newsletter.

I think it would be far easier to implement...

i was able to edit the location of the plugins in the mailtophpBB3.php file and now i get a config window, but the tables weren't built correctly i guess. Now i get

Mail 2 phpBB3 Configuration Page

Code: Select all
Database error 1146 while doing query Table 'carolir1_plst01.phplist_list' doesn't exist

I'm supposing that that is a result of the hosting site's Simple Script error, that didn't create the database entries...

Hi,

This could be because you have a different database prefix then the standard one.
As mail2phpbb3 does not need to create any tables, this is my first guess.

If you have another prefix for your database tables (other then 'phplist') then you'll have to change the queries in the plugin.
You can look for them in:
'plugins\mailtophpBB3\main.php'
at line 51
'plugins\mailtophpBB3\postemail.php'
at line 73
and 76

Hope this helps.

Hi SaWey :

Can you post a direct link to the file ?
I don't want to register in another forum, just for 1 download ....

Thanks

You should be able to download it without registering now. I didn't know guests couldn't download the files, sorry for that.

hola people are new again.

I would point out to all users that the link proposed in the first post leads to a blank page.
What if you could add a link for downloading this file ...

I use phpbb 3.0.8 plunglin I would ask if this is suitable and compatible to act with this product!

thank you very much for your attention

Unfortunately the download link in the first post appears to be broken and SaWey's support site (forum) has been down for some time now.

I think you can download part of the plugin (phpbbPoster Class) from another part of his site: http://www.sawey.be/download-manager.php?id=13

See this thread on the phpBB forum: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 0&t=592729
