What is messages.zip?

If you are looking for the message open statistics plugin then the file is attached to the post immediately prior to your post, as a .tar.gz file.

duncanc wrote:I have taken the statistics plugin and tidied it up a bit, see attached screenshot below:

    automatically show the most recent message
    provide a summary of statistics for each message to the list of messages
    added paging through the list of messages and the lists of users who have viewed/not viewed a message, 50 at a time
    added a link to download the list of users who have viewed the message

statistics.tar.gz

The plugin file is attached.

Nice job! Thanks! Could you add your improved version of this plugin to this mantis entry: http://mantis.phplist.com/view.php?id=15511 ? Thx! :D

I have installed the plugin but when I go to Statistics Section and click "open statistics by message" I get following error

openstats -> Sorry this page was not found in the plugin

Let me know what went wrong at my end w.r.t. the plugin installation.

It sounds as if you have not installed it correctly.

in config.php the variable PLUGIN_ROOTDIR needs to be defined to be the folder where you install plugins

then, in that folder, expand the .tar.gz file. You should have

statistics.php
and a folder called statistics containing
main.php
openstats.php
Pager.php

Yes I have already done the necessary changes in config.php, but still I get the error hence the concern.

Attached are the 3 images showing link to statistics plugin section, the statistics-section-2.png showing the link to open statistics by message and the last statistics-section-3.png showing the error when I click on open statistics link.

It is a bit hard to tell but I guess that you have not expanded the .tar.gz file correctly and phplist cannot find the files in the statistics directory.
In my previous response I asked youi to verify that you have within your plugins directory

a file called statistics.php
and a folder called statistics containing
    main.php
    openstats.php
    Pager.php

Also please confirm that you downloaded the version from here

Yes, I have downloded the plugin from the same post and I do have file called statistics.php under my plugin folder and a folder named statistics containing 3 files named main.php, openstats.php and Pager.php

Other plugins like "sidebar" , ""message progress" is also installed similarly, and it is working fine.

Ahh...now i edited the statistics.php file and set $coderoot as below.

var $coderoot = "plugins/statistics/";

Now I'm getting the messages as

Tracking Statistics page
Choose statistics option below:
open statistics by message

but when I click on open statistics by message I get screen which is partially loaded as seen in below screenshot.

You shouldn't need to edit the code because this function should set $coderoot correctly
Code: Select all
  function __construct() {
    $this->coderoot = dirname(__FILE__) . '/statistics/';
  }

unless you are running on an earlier php version than mine (5.2.13) which behaves differently.
The code was using some short php tags <? instead of <?php so I have changed those to all be long tags and there were some missing closing tags at the end of some files. Also removed an old-style constructor method.
Those might have been a problem.
You can try the modified version which I have replaced on the same forum topic.

I'm still unable to view the statistics, it says "openstats -> Sorry this page was not found in the plugin"

any help would be appreciated.

hello duncanc,

i'm able to install and use the plugin from the post viewtopic.php?f=7&t=748&start=60#p71438 however if I replace the same with your post viewtopic.php?f=7&t=748&start=60#p78805 I get the above mentioned error.

Let me know what could be the reason for the error.

Ah, I guess that you must be using php4. I have updated the plugin (again!) to support php4 constructors. Please try it again and see if it now works.
I have also changed the plugin name to messagestatistics so the file is now messagestatistics.tar.gz, etc.

Thanks for the quick update and support for php4. I have downloaded and installed the updated plugin, however I'm getting a partial page as seen in my post viewtopic.php?f=7&t=748&start=75#p78923

It seems to be some php parsing error, please help.

I don't have access to php4 but have made a few more changes that might make it compatible. New file is on the earlier post.
