[UPDATED] -> see below

With this plugin you can automate the posting of an email to your preferred phpBB board.

Here are the install notes:
Code: Select all
emailtophpBB  By SaWey Copyright 2007

This plugin uses the "curl_phpbb.class.php" by Dean Newman
This class is available at http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/3203.html and is licensed under GNU/GPL

To install this script, just put these files in there corresponding directories:
->emailtophpBB --> admin/plugins
->emailtophpBB.php --> admin/plugins

Once the files are in there,
Make sure you have your "plugin directory" in your config file pointing to the right directory.
The file "processed.php" and directory "config" have to be chmodded 777.
You also have to enable HTML in your phpBB config.

Then just go to you phpList admin page and click on the emailtophpBB link.
You will be able to configure this script via those pages.

If you want to post your emails on a forum, click on the "process" button in the main page.

If you installed this plugin while already running phpList for a while
make sure to enter all your message id's of the messages you don't want
to be posted in the 'processed.php' file, each id on another line.
Also make sure you don't leave empty lines in that file!!

You can download the plugin here

The plugin is updated!!!
Now it works prety fine.

Follow the instructions of the first post to install.
Make sure you haven't set a limit for the flood interval of your phpBB forum if you want to post lots of mails at the time, else you will have to run the plugin a few times.

Having files to 777 permission is security threat ?

After I download zip file, should I unzip in admin/plugins folder ?

After I unzip in admin/plugins

~/www/PHPlist/admin/plugins

it created emailtophpBB/ folder
cd emailtophpBB/

## It creates another plugins , not sure whether this is correct.

# ls
./ ../ plugins/
# ls
./ ../ INSTALL mailtophpBB/ mailtophpBB.php

Can you clarify please ?

FILES yes, very unsecure, but Sawey's plugin refers to FOLDERS, less of an issue, make sure the files within are of course set to 644.

You should just drop the contents of the 'emailtophpBB/plugins' in YOUR plugin folder.
It should not create a new plugin folder in the plugin folder :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks SaWey,
I guess confusion is in instructions, in instructions it is written
"
->emailtophpBB --> admin/plugins
->emailtophpBB.php --> admin/plugins
"

When I unzip file, I see mailtophpBB folder inside plugins,
You want to move/copy mailtophpBB folder & mailtophpBB.php file to admin/plugins.

It looks like to me that email word has been replaced with mail.

Yes, that's true.
I repacked my plugins some time ago and probably created those directories by mistake.

SaWey,
I can see plugins & also configured using edit button, when I process I see similar messages :

Message 19 has not been posted, you cannot make a post so soon after another...
Message 20 has not been posted, you cannot make a post so soon after another...
.....

I don't see any message posted .

I don't know much about PhpBB.

When messages are sent, are messages sent in HTML using template ?
I want Forum to be read only so only admin or thru this interface ,I should post it.
Can I do it using this plugins ?
My intention is just PHPBB is to host Archived NewsLetter in HTML template which I use to sent.

Thanks

The best way to prevent this from happening is disabling flood protection in the phpBB admin panel.

This protection prevents you from posting multiple messages in a short time.

I have put 0 in Flood Interval (Phpbb) in General Configuration but still it is happening. Any idea ? Is 0 means disable ?

I was asked about this plugin and having had no experience with it, I installed the current version of phpBB (version 3) and this now no longer allows HTML on security grounds, as it stands, the plugin will not work with Version 3 of phpBB forum software.

Don't know if Sawey has any plans to update or work on a work-around?
