[plugin: Mail2List] Send mail to your list via email client

3rd party code for phpList

Postby SaWey » 7:39am, Wed 11 Mar, 2009

Hi,

If you want, I'll take a look at it.
I will need phplist details and ftp access for that.

Hello Guys,

I tried to forward an email to my list and i keep getting these errors

'Error, when trying to send message 8 the attachment
2009_03/8bg1.jpg could not be found'

When people received the emails they were blank.

Can anybody help me with this?

Hi,

Have you edited the path to your attachments?

in mailtolist/get_email.class.php:
Code: Select all
###################################################################################################################
##      Edit the path to your phplist attachment directory (/var/www/mailinglist/attachments/)                    ##
###################################################################################################################
 var $file_path = "/var/www/mailinglist/attachments/";

does the /var/ folder actually have to say that? or is it variable depending on the folders on your own server...

I keep getting errors like this

Error, when trying to send message 5 the attachment
2009_03/5image011.jpg could not be found

and the email either sends as just text or nothing at all...

The references should be edited to match what you have in your system - look and see where your "attachments" directory is. DO NOT FORGET THE TRAILING SLASHS

Once you have found that attachment directory you should be able to check it after running mail2list and see that the actual attachment files are getting loaded in there.

When the attachments are stored by mail2list, each file is getting renamed with a prefix. Thus "myform.pdf" becomes "123myform.pdf" when it is stored, and retains that prefix when it is sent out the list.

Is that normal ? If not any clues as to how to correct ?

Here's my setup:
Ubuntu (just downloaded last week)
PHPLIST v2.11.3
MailToList v2.0.0b

I've done two installs on two different machines with the same apparent symptoms.

I'm getting an "invalid keyring location' message in the upper left corner of the admin pages. I don't know if this is important but it can't be good.

Everything on the setup side seems to work, including sending emails from the web interface. However, when I configure mailtolist and attempt to "Process New Mails" I get the PHPLIST shell screen with "goodevening admin", the language pulldown box, and logout.

No processing message or anything.

Any ideas?

Okay, when I send using Outlook 2000 through smtp on my virtual host it works fine. I try through Exchange Server using 2003 or 2007 and the content is missing.

What's up with this? I see other information about 2003/2007, but not sure what to do about it other than setup the people who want to use the mailer with Outlook Express.

Is there a sending/encoding change in Outlook that will resolve the issue?

I'm doing something wrong, and I can't figure it out.

When I click on "Process new mails", I get:
Code: Select all
Processing list 'test'
-----------------------------

Status of pop3 connection: Connected

Processed message 1 of 1
No emails where sent to test@linux-test.testdomain.local.

However, the test email I sent was addressed to 'test@linux-test.testdomain.local'.

What am I missing here? And yes, that is the actual hostname and domain of the server :)

Picture in HTML email from Outlook causes blank body

Postby agrogers » 3:08am, Thu 04 Jun, 2009

Hi

I found the post below by Kristof on the 2:27am, Tue 13 Jan, 2009. I am having the same problem and would love some suggestions on fixing it. Everything else works fantastically.

I am using Outlook 2007. I can send a simple HTML email no problems. But if I embed an image into that email then the body of the email *when it comes back to Outlook* is empty. The same email looks fine in Gmail.

The source of the email that Outlook sends and the list resends is horrendous. Hundreds of lines of extra stuff. If i edit the email in PHPlist's FCK editor (just add a single character) all the rubbish that Outlook adds in is removed and the email is then received looking great.

There are two <body> tags in the email and only one </body> tag. That couldnt help. But it works fine for emails with *no* embedded images.

I have attached the source of two simple emails, one with and one without and image.

A solution is pretty 'easy'. Just remove all the rubbish Outlook adds. That could be done by removing everything up until the last <body> tag. Sadly this is beyond my skills. Maybe there is another solution??

Thanks
Andrew

Hi SaWey ! Hi All!

Please help me :)

When i send a html message everything ok, but when i
insert a picture in to the email then is blank! Only the PHPList logo in it. When i check the email source in outlook 2003 or in gmail i can see all the message. What is the solution ? or what i am doing wrong?

Thanks Kristof

I found the solution:
Word doesnt copy paste decent html code into an email. Php had problems with that.
The solution: when using Internet Explorer, the PHPlist gives a popup and asks if I would like to clean the code, because it looks like a word-code. In firefox however, this popup doesnt appear, and my text seems to be copypasted without any trouble.. untill I send it out to outlook express users..

So: word has terrible code
php warning+cleaning option only appears when using IE.
So the solution to blank emails in Outlook is: use IE.
