Hosting advised for sending messages

Postby giorgio62 » 4:11pm, Wed 21 May, 2014

Hello,
I recently installed phplist and seems like a great program. My hosting advised me to set:
not more than 800 per hour
not more than 50 email for session
How do I set the config.php? Sorry but I do not have much experience.
thank you very much

This would be set in your lists/config/config.php file using a TEXT editor, not word or similar.

The section you want starts around line 330.

For 800 an hour, in batches of 50, I would suggest the following, though check with your host once you've sent a batch of messages.

define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_SIZE",50);
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_PERIOD",250);
define('MAILQUEUE_THROTTLE',0);

The above will take 250 seconds to send each batch of 50 and will take a little over an hour to send so as you admit to being inexperienced you'll need to leave a browser window open for the process to complete.

More experienced users would no doubt consider using a CRON job which would allow you to close the browser and let phpList work away in the background. However, it's not for the faint hearted or inexperienced user.

Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x
