404s with wordpress .htaccess

Postby mikeill » 3:03am, Wed 05 Nov, 2014

I'm using phplist 3.0.5. In a subdirectory next to wordpress with the www root set as wordpress home.

Tried some of the v2 recommendations as posted at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36335, including deleting the wordpress .htaccess file and turning permalinks back off and on.

Also tried adding first line (and comment) to lists/.htaccess:

Code: Select all
#Added line below to prevent WP from hijacking the URL in the Authorization Process
ErrorDocument 401 default

DirectoryIndex index.php

<FilesMatch "\.(php|inc)$">
Order allow,deny
deny from all
</FilesMatch>
<FilesMatch "(index.php|dl.php|ut.php|lt.php|download.php|connector.php)$">
Order allow,deny
allow from all
</FilesMatch>

# if you want more than this for attachments, you can increase these values
# but you really, really should consider uploading them somewhere
# and only sending a link in your mails
# bigger than this really doesn't make sense in emails

## these lines are now commented out, to avoid 500 errors, https://mantis.phplist.com/view.php?id=9937
## but you should consider adding them

#php_value upload_max_filesize 3M
#php_value post_max_size 4M

Currently the admin directory works with:

Code: Select all
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(lists|lists/.*)$
## RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(lists/\?p=.*)$
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

# END WordPress

But I'm still getting a 404 on pages like:

myurl.com/lists/?p=forward&uid=a6e3013007c3127100b12f3b2abce85f&mid=3

Thanks for any insights.

I'm not sure why that's happening for you, but it's the same setup I have.
So if it helps here are the .htaccess files from my configuration.

this is the .htaccess file in the lists folder
Code: Select all
DirectoryIndex index.php
<FilesMatch "\.(php|inc)$">
Order allow,deny
deny from all
</FilesMatch>
<FilesMatch "(index.php|dl.php|ut.php|lt.php|download.php|connector.php|archive.php)$">
Order allow,deny
allow from all
</FilesMatch>

this is the list/admin folder .htaccess
Code: Select all
<FilesMatch "\.(php|inc)$">
Order allow,deny
Deny from all
</FilesMatch>
<FilesMatch "(index.php|connector.php|upload.php)$">
Order allow,deny
allow from all
</FilesMatch>

this is the relevant part of the .htaccess file in the public_html root
Code: Select all
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress
