[solved] php5 blank pages

Postby primebus » 11:53am, Thu 26 Apr, 2007

Hi All,

I had to upgrade my server to php 5 and mysql 5 last night due to errors in the stock php4 rpms.

Everything is working perfectly apart from phplist.

When i go to the main page or the admin page I just get a blank page.

I've tried editing the error reporting levels and I am not getting any errors at all, even in the apache error log.

I'm running

phplist 2.10.4

I've googled this high and low and can't really find any suggestions.

Thanks for your help

Hi, try check config.php file against syntax error:
# php -l config/config.php

Also check if you have CLI or CGI version of PHP:
# php -v
PHP 5.1.6 (cli) (built: Feb 23 2007 06:56:38)

[root@www mailing]# php -l config/config.php
No syntax errors detected in config/config.php

[root@www mailing]# php -v
PHP 5.1.6 (cli) (built: Feb 23 2007 06:56:38)
Copyright (c) 1997-2006 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.1.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2006 Zend Technologies
with eAccelerator v0.9.5, Copyright (c) 2004-2006 eAccelerator, by eAccelerator

I'm guessing its something to do with cli. PHP4 was installed as CGI.

Any advice?

Ok after lots of digging around i discovered it was down to the pear HTTP/Request.php

I'm not sure exactly how this is used in phplist but i commented out the line:

@include_once "HTTP/Request.php";

on line 102 of lists/admin/lib.php

and then my system fired up again.

I then discovered that the fckeditor wasnt working which i solved by doing the following:

i opened fckeditor.html in my texteditor, trying to sort out the problem... (/lists/admin/FCKeditor/editor)

at line 48 - 50 you will find the following code..

// Base configuration file.
//LoadScript( '../fckconfig.js' ) ;
LoadScript( '../../?page=fckphplist&action=js3' ) ;

If you comment the 2nd Loadscript line and uncomment the 1st the editor will work.

Hope this is of help to some of you!

php 4 to php 5

Postby jeromeba » 4:27am, Wed 19 Mar, 2008

I am not a Programmer, but I found that in php4 the first line of the code that calls the php is <?
And in php5 it is <?php .
I changed all the <? To <?php and everything works except the attributes.

Hi all,

very simple solution for me when you opened up the /lists/admin/FCKeditor/editor
via ftp you will find two files fckeditor.html (delete this) and fckeditor.original.html (rename it to fckeditor.html). Problem solved. :D
