My sites:- http://wharfedalefestival.co.uk, http://ilkleygardeners.org.uk, http://emergencyaid.net, http://dragonrider.co.uk
Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Sorry, I solved the proble allready.
Turns out that you HAVE to use Explorer instead of Firefox.
If you use Firefox to set a link in your mailing you have a problem

Thanks for thinking with me

Here's a better fix for Firefox users (not everyone uses Windows!):

1. Download the lastest version of FCKeditor
2. Unzip/untar the file.
3. Rename the folder to FCKeditor (i.e. capitalize the first three letters).
4. Backup your current installation of phplist.
5. FTP to your site and navigate to /lists/admin
6. Delete the folder FCKeditor and all its contents
7. Upload the latest version in its place
8. Test and enjoy!

Um. Looks like it works for URLs but not email addresses.

HI julianna
I tried this [to the letter] with FCKeditor 2.6.3 and it would not display FCKeditor in the iframe with FF3 in Windows OR Ubuntu (gnome) Linux. Just gave me blank space from the ? Message. to the expand link at the bottom.

Works Correctly in IE7 and Chrome in Windows XP AND Opera 9.5 in Ubuntu (gnome) Linux for Hyperlinks. Have not tested email links.

The other posts in this thread mention that it is possible to run FCKeditor and do not mention having a blank page. So wouldn't this be another issue? Possibly related to the one discussed in this FAQ: "When I try to edit a message, or a message template, the part where the editing window should be is blank. How can I fix this?" See http://docs.phplist.com/PhplistFAQ

Or it might be a browser configuration issue, for example the browser's current settings might be too restrictive towards javascript to be able to run FCKeditor.

That might be true in some cases, but the FAQ discusses issues with a stock installation of PHPlist with FCK version 2.3.? not the current 2.6.3 version.

What I find to be even more amazing is that I use FCKeditor in 4 other applications version 2.5.? - 2.6.1 with no issues whatsoever.

The issue I am having is with 2.6.3 in the current version of PHPlist and only in PHPlist.

I apologize if I sound a little crabby, but please don't assume that I am a run of the mill newbie. I have thoroughly read and tested all solutions in the FAQ. The 2.6.3 attempt was my only hope to continue using this fine application.

Firefox 3 fix -

Postby Guest » 9:00am, Wed 10 Sep, 2008

Apologies if people have already found this, but trawling the ticket answer mentioned, I had a little trouble tracking down where to make the edit, but can confirm I have fixed the add link error in Firefox 3 without upgrading FCKEditor in any way.

As the ticket describes, you need to replace the CreateLink function reference to 'document' with 'EditorDocument'.

So, in the file:
/lists/admin/FCKeditor/editor/js/fckeditorcode_gecko_2.js

change line 14 (I think)
Code: Select all
var oLink=document.evaluate(...

to
Code: Select all
var oLink=this.EditorDocument.evaluate( ...

Works for me at least.

where is fckeditorcode_gecko_2.js?

Postby Guest » 5:52am, Sat 13 Sep, 2008

My PHPList installation (just a few weeks ago) does not include fckeditorcode_gecko_2.js; it only has fckeditorcode_gecko.js. The CreateLink function in this file does not have the code listed by luna ("var oLink..."). But I still get the javascript:void(0) problem when creating links in messages.

Is there a certain PHPList download that includes the fckeditorcode_gecko_2.js file? I used the phplist-2.10.5.zip.

Thanks...

ok, if you don't have fckeditorcode_gecko_2.js, the comparable change in fckeditorcode_gecko.js is:
Code: Select all
var C=document.evaluate("//a[@href='"+B+"']"

becomes
Code: Select all
var C=this.EditorDocument.evaluate("//a[@href='"+B+"']"

This seems to work. Remember to clear your cache after you make your changes...that had me going for a while

This works for everything apart from images.

The version of fckeditor came with some custom files and folders and I've copied them over but still having problems.

Has anyone else had problems with the images?

Thanks that worked! I've been tolerating this problem for a month or so, assuming it was an issue with the last version of FireFox I downloaded. I worked around it by coding all my links in the html source editor. Thanks so much for fixing it for me!

I don't use images, so I'm not sure if that's working. I did notice that the email links still include the "javascript" + gibberish in the URL.
