What are you using to access your installation of phpList? Internet Explorer from the "Metro" or Desktop? If the former, try it from the desktop version of IE. (or Firefox/Chrome)

If going from the Deswktop version, try clicking Compatibility View, it'll have the effect of fooling W8 that you are using IE7 and not IE10, but allow it and with a little luck....

Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Compatibility View button fixed it. Thanks.

I'll add that this also applies to IE10 on Windows 7 too. While some of the little layout niggles that previous versions of IE exhibited have gone, IE10 really doesn't like the editor unless you set Compatibility Mode.
