[solved] Installation

[solved] Installation

Postby Helveticus » 10:24pm, Sun 28 Jul, 2013

Hallo

Upload the contents of the lists folder (from the ZIP) to your own lists folder on your server web space.

Create your required email address.

Add the email details to your lists/config/config.php file.

If you haven't already read the documentation, now is a good time to start. http://docs.phplist.com/PhplistInstallation.html

Latest phpList version is now 3.0.12 (3 February 2015) and requires a minimum of MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.3.x

Thank you very much.

Create your required email address.

How can I create the email address? I have a domain and I will use phpList over Amazon Ses.

Add the email details to your lists/config/config.php file.

You mean the credentials from Amazon Ses?

I would go to my domain control panel and add an email address as required, but in your case, this may be on your email settings at Amazone SES?

Amazon SES needs specific settings, please check the following topics regarding using Amazon SES:-

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=38245&hilit=amazon
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=38660&p=95112&hilit=amazon+SES#p95112

Also:

Amazon SES

The basics for configuration is as follows (place this in your config file)

define('PHPMAILER',0);

define('AWS_ACCESSKEYID','Your Access Key ID');

define('AWS_SECRETKEY','Your corresponding secret key');

define('AWS_POSTURL','https://email.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/');

Obviously, because you place your secret key in the config file, you need to make sure it is secure.

Using the SES functionality requires curl support in PHP.

After that, make sure to read the SES documentation to add your senders and set yourself up for mailing.

You mean a domain control panel inside PhpList or the control panel on the site where the domain was registered?

Moreover, I want to access phpList over my domain, e.g. www.example.de. So do I have to link this domain to the server where phpList is running on?

The domain registered control panel, where ever you would normally access your email accounts and where you can create a new one to use with phpList.

Use www.example.de/lists for example IF yuor lists directory is in the root of example.de.

If you have phplist on another server, then have your link to "Subscribe to our Newsletters" on example.de point to anotherserver.de/lists

Thanks a lot. Just two small additional questions.

In which folder do I have to put the database file? The database file already exists.

Installing PHP I can do with the following code.

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

In the phpList documentation it is written that I should add IMAP support.

How can I do this with the above code?

Q1. What database file??

Q2. No idea, you'd need to check with your host or do a search on Google for adding IMAP to your own server.

Q1. phpList needs a mysql database file as written here http://docs.phplist.com/PhpListConfigDatabase.html. But it is not written in which folder I have to put the db file.

Q2. Ok. Is php with IMAP really needed with phpList?

Ahh. Q1. The configuration file is found in lists/config/config.php and you would alter the database section so as to access your server's database.

Q2. Not if you are using POP/SMTP email settings.

You have to create it and then copy the contents of the lists directory from within the phpList ZIP file to your lists directory.

I have know created a /root/lists folder and inserted the contents of the lists directory from within the phpList ZIP file inside it. Then I tried to access it. My servers IP adress is xxx.xx.xx.xxx. So I tried xxx.xx.xx.xxx/lists/admin but it does not work. It just appears a message "not found".

What is wrong?
