[solved] I think I found a bug using FCKeditor and Firefox 3

Postby cookie » 6:01pm, Thu 10 Jul, 2008

Since I've upgraded to Firefox 3 on MacOSX, when I create a new message and then insert a link on an image or over some text, the link that is created looks something like
Code: Select all
a href="javascript:void(0);/*1215713050085*/"
instead of the actual link.

Not including the opening <and> because it won't show up in the post correctly if I put valid HTML code.

Has anyone else noticed this problem.

This is particular a difficult problem because using PHPlist with Safari is that there is no FCKeditor, so you can visually edit any messages.

So if you are on MacOSX and you have upgraded to Firefox 3 you cannot insert links properly anymore.

I've found the same problem on Firefox 3 on Windows XP.

The only way around this problem that i have found is to insert the link, then edit the link and add the proper URL in. You must go through and do this for every link on any message that you create. You can view the source code to verify that the links are all correct.

Solution

Postby Guest » 6:04pm, Thu 21 Aug, 2008

Hi!

The solution is presented here:
http://dev.fckeditor.net/ticket/2377

http://developer.mozilla.org/index.php?title=En/DOM/Document.evaluate&highlight=document.evaluate

they said While using document.evaluate() works in FF2, in FF3 one must use someXMLDoc.evaluate() if evaluating against something other than the current document

so to make it working you should replace "document" with "this.EditorDocument.evaluate", and it works

Some clear as mud solution. They don't mention which file needs to be edited.

I tracked it down to fckeditorcode_gecko.js in the lists / admin / FCKeditor / editor / js directory.

I made the edit and it still does NOT work.

Yes, I'm using FF3 to test and it is still BROKEN.
